Even if at the begin I really trusted on the how-know of LiteOn. We don't have any news from your firm on the development of firmwares since 2003.09.29 with fw229, I know that you published fw301b few days before it disappears from your web site on November 2003 but there were too much bugs in this firmware... I noticed that this one provided OGG support (a really great thing) and folders browsing, but it was not reliable so I returned to fw229... Why your firm takes so much time to release new firmwares? I would like to know if LiteOn will give a answer to their customers by providing a firmware mainly faithfully decompressing DivX3 (like KISS) and supporting directories browsing on cd's, because these points are really the big inconvenients on this player that could be really great else. So could you tell me if you will provide us such a firmware and when? Could it be possible to have emails informing us that new firmwares are released and what changes have been done in each version... Finally, I eared about that fact that LiteOn will stop selling LVD2001 and also will stop new firmwares development... (the second point is really amazing...) I would like to know if this is true? I take part in several IT forums and I should say that almost all the persons owning an lvd2001 in these forums fell fear about such a news. le passage systematique a la v301 n'est pas la solution! les mp3 embeded ds une vidéo divx3 doivent et sont lus correctement depuis le début par la platine de liteon. Je ne pense pas que l'upgrade va y changer qlqch... Le problème vient plutot soit d'un header mal foutu soit carement d'un problème au niveau du flux audio. Essai d'ouvrir ton divx avec le logiciel NanDub, si celui-ci repère des erreurs ds le flux vidéo ou audio, il va automatiquement les corriger!

d'apres les echos ke g u sur d'otre forum le prob serait regler avec le 301beta, reste a voir l'efficacite...

envoi moi en mp ce que tu cherches et je vais voir ce qui pourrait te convenir...

bon on est le 23 est tjs pas de new fw à l'horizon chez liteon, mais k'est-ce kil font...il était parti en certification vers le 13 et il est tjs pas sorti... y a surement du y avoir pas mal de bug à corriger avt une nvle certif, mais bon j'aimerais bien ki nous le sorte ce fw car deja un par mois c'est pas terrible (qd on voit kiss ki en sort un quasi ttes les 2 ou 3 semaines...) alors s'ils nous sucre le fw d'octobre je vais pas etre content, moa !

ouep c'est vrai que la petite derniere de chez philips fait bcp parler d'elle et a l'air plutot pas mal sur le papier (j'en ai pas encore eu une entre les mains, donc...) Pour ce qui est du fw, je suis comme vs j'attends encore et tjs, mais je serais plus reservé, je pense que ca sera un fw mineur corrigeant qlq bug, pr ce ki est des remarques que je leur ai adressé je pense kil va leur falloir un peu plus de tps pr les réaliser (enfin s'ils le veulent). Donc wait & see (mais kil se dépêche car à partir du 23 j'aurais plus d'adsl pr 1 semaine alors vite les gars de chez liteon...)

etant donné que la liteon et la kiss utilise le meme chip sigma et tournent ttes les deux sous linux et sachant que kiss a réussi a le faire, je dis prkoi pas, ca dois tt de meme pas etre compliqué de mettre un screensaver sur la liteon. Maintenant faut voir s'ils ont envi de le faire et qd ils on prevu de le faire...

Pour ce qui est de la comptatibilité DivX+WMA, je pense que ca devrait etre faisable mais qd ca c'est une autre question... A l'heure actuelle, aucune platine dvd/divx ne permet de regarder des divx avec wma comme src sonore. La petite lueur d'espoir pr le lvd2001 est kil est capable de lire les music au format wma (parfaitement ou non, ca je ne sais pas encore) des à présent. Dc on peut se dire que s'il est capable de le faire en mode audio uniquement, il sera p-e envisageable ds le futur que liteon améliore le produit en permettant aussi une lecture du wma incorporé ds 1 divx... bref : wait&see !

le prochain fw est prévu pr la mi-octobre et avec tte la liste des changements que je leur ai fillé, ils ont pas mal de boulot... Je ne sais plus si je l'ai posté ou pas mais j'ai egalement demandé à ce qu'ils baisse l'intensité du voyant power en mode off car ca ressemble a une disco (ms la je suis pas franchemnt confiant, je suis pas sur que ca soit gerable via le fw) et aussi de mettre en place le fait que lorsque l'on appui sur le bouton eject, la tv bascule en mode AV, puis que lorsque l'on fait un power off, le player rebascule sur la TV normale (ca par-contre c'est faisable via le fw, dc...) Bon je sais pas si le prochain fw sera vrmnt grandiose mais vu tte les infos que je leur fille pr ameliorer leur platine, il y a matiere a faire qlqch de plus que correct... Moi je pense plutot que tout ceci devrait arriver dans les futurs releases du fw, ms je suis pas sur que pr la prochaine ils aient eu le tps de mettre ca en place. Par contre, le truc que j'aimerais bien, c'est kil mettent en place une mailling list ki nous permettent de savoir qd une nouvelle version du fw est dispo et surtout qu'elles sont les modifs apportés dedans...

Voila, je viens de répondre au mail que liteon m'a envoyé. NB: Une chose que j'apprecie bcp chez eux c'est kils sont tres rapident à répondre. Both of these players are using the same chipset provided by SIGMA (the same that is used in the SIGMA X-Cards). The KISS player owns a file manager built inside provided by SIGMA. So if SIGMA delivered such a kernel firmware to KISS, I'm confident in the fact that SIGMA would be able to design such a firmware for the LVD2001. Concerning the settings you wonder me, I made several tests and here are the conclusion : * Frame size : ->minimum : 576 x 320 ->maximum : 720 x 320 * Frame rate : ONLY 23.976 Fps (NTSC) OR 25 Fps (PAL) * Sound sampling rate : ONLY 44100 Hz OR 48000 Hz * FINALLY DivX3 videos bitrate : ->at a bitrate lower than 500kbps the divx3 movies are played almost perfectly => 1 or 2 scenes freeze ->between 500kbps and 800kbps => an average of 5 scenes freeze ->between 800kps and 1000kps => an average of 10->15 scenes freeze ->at a bitrate higher than 1000kps => the movie is unwatchable, it seems like a powerpoint slide ;) The matter is that if you want a good quality in a divx3 video, you have to compress it with a bitrate near or higher than 1000kps. Movies encoded with bitrate lower than 800kps are really awful there is a lot of macroblocs and pixels appearing. So it is REALLY IMPORTANT that the LVD2001 plays perfectly DivX3 video using bitrates equal or higher than 1000kbps. Please notice that all these informations was found thanks to a freeware called "GSpot". I'm shure you know it ! As I said above, the KISS dp-450 and the LiteOn LVD2001 use the same SIGMA chipset. I know that KISS use Linux OS to run their products. I made some tests with my LVD2001 player and I guess that the LiteOn LVD2001 also runs a Linux OS, I'm wrong ? KISS developpers have succed -with the fw2.7.1- in the fact that the dp450 plays every kind of DivX3 PERFECTLY ! KISS developpers haven't the experience and the know-how of LiteOn ones on programming firmwares so I'm really confident in the fact that LiteOn would provide soon to their customers a firmware that enable a PERFECT DivX3 (low-motion/fast-motion/SBC) playback. bon les codecs divx3 ne fonctionne tjs pas mieux avec le fw0229. qlq'1 sait-il ce kil apporte de plus car pr l'instant j'ai pas trop vu...

Bon alors j'ai poussé plus avant mes tests avec les codecs divx3. Puisque à priori, il n'y a que eux qui posent problèmes, le divx4/5 et xvid passant tres chez bien moi. Pour l'instant, je n'ai eu le tps de tester que les low motion, les fast motion, le sbc et le vki devraient suivre prochainement. Ce que je peux dire pr l'instant du support du divx3 low motion, c'est kil est tres bien supporté tant que le bitrate du fichier vidéo ne dépasse pas les 800kbps (ce ki peut paraite peu pr certain, je sais...), a noter qu'avec des films faisant ~ ce bitrate, j'ai vu environ 3 ou 4 scenes avec des ralentissements, dc c'est pas la mort, mm si ca n'est pas encore parfait. Par contraire, j'ai essayé avec le rip de MON DVD DE STARWARS EP.1 (QUE J'AI ACHETE, si, si) avec un bitrate de 1400kbps, la c'est mm pas la peine la platine mouline comme une tarée et ca n'est pas regardable... Je vais tester ds les prochains jours le support des autres version du codec divx3. A noter que pr l'instant mes tests, ce sont fait avec le fw 0227. PS: le fw 0229, que je vous annoncé il y a peu sur le forum, est dispo sur le site de liteon. Je suis actuellement au boulot dc je l'essayerais ce soir.

I should say that this player is really amazing but it would be even better with full support of divx3 (low/fast motion and SBC) and wma. I know that liteon is working on such a firmware to improve these two points. I would like to know when it will be available?
